Engstlenalp SU: 16.06.2024 (ENGLISH)
On Sunday, June 16th, 2024, my partner and I decided to visit Engstlenalp.
During our journey through Innetkirchen, nature already provided us with the beauty you would expect. The pass route to the Alps was very interesting. The road was so narrow that in most places it was impossible to cross other vehicles.
Luckily, someone thought along and repeatedly built in recesses for crossing.
I knew that there was a good chance of seeing marmots, but I didn't expect them to almost run in front of our car on the pass. When we arrived at the alp, the peace and quiet was incomparable.
Shoes tied, camera in hands and backpack tightened. We were ready to start. Since our time was a bit limited, we didn't go on a big hike, but we will definitely do that in the not too distant future.
already in the beginning we were able to hear the many birds singing and the nature was untouched and beautiful. We didn't have a fixed place to take photos, we walked calmly and observed the landscape.
I came across a chaffinch, unfortunately it wasn't possible to get to the perfect eye level but I'm still very happy with the result. It was a little more difficult to find your way around an area without a lot of experience about the behavior of the local animal species.
After a short break, the path continued with the aim of finding marmots. After we got to a slightly rockier region, we discovered the little animals on a rock wall above a muddy moor area.
With caution I tried to get into a more advantageous position and traipsed through the moorland. With my socks still dry, I reached a position in which I secured my stay. I'm not sure if the dry socks are due to my skill or the footwear. I was able to take a few good pictures of the cute marmots.
I would say that my first experiences with marmots were successful.
